Knitted fabrics and woven fabrics although the literal difference is only a word, but they are still very different, what is the specific difference, mainly from the composition of the fabric and the basic characteristics of the fabric to show. The details are as follows:
I. Composition of fabric:
Knitted fabric: The coil is the smallest basic unit of knitted fabric, and the coil is composed of a spatial curve of the loop stem and the extension line. The coils are interlaced with each other to form woven fabric, and the process of yarn forming coils can be carried out horizontally or vertically. The horizontal weave is called weft weave fabric, while the longitudinal weave is called warp weave fabric.
Woven fabric (woven fabric) : It is composed of two groups of mutually perpendicular yarns interwoven with warp and weft at a 90 degree Angle. The longitudinal yarn is called warp yarn and the transverse yarn is called weft yarn. Each point of intersection between warp and weft is called the weave point and is the smallest basic unit of woven fabric.
2. Basic characteristics of fabric:
Knitted fabric: Because the coil is made of yarn bending in space, and each coil is composed of one yarn, when the knitted fabric is subjected to external tension, such as longitudinal stretching, the bending of the coil changes, and the height of the coil also increases, while the width of the coil decreases. If the tension is transverse stretching, the opposite is true. The height and width of the coil under different tension conditions, It is obviously convertible to each other, so the elongation of knitted fabrics is large. With large breathable properties, feel soft. Woven fabric (woven fabric) : because the warp and weft interweave some domes, and only in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the fabric bending, the degree of domes and the mutual tension between the warp and weft yarn, as well as yarn stiffness, when woven fabric by external tension, such as longitudinal stretching, the warp tension increases, bending decreases, and the weft bending increases. Such as longitudinal stretch, until the warp is completely straight, at the same time woven fabric is transverse contraction. When a woven fabric is stretched horizontally by external tension, the weft's tension increases and the warp's bend decreases, while the warp's bend increases, as if stretched horizontally until the weft is completely straight while the fabric is woven
It contracts lengthwise. And warp, weft yarn will not be converted, so the fabric - relatively tight, quite stiff.
